Visit of Smt. Debasree Mukherjee, IAS, Secretary, MSDE, to Don Bosco Technical Institute, Kolkata
On 16th October 2025, Smt. Debasree Mukherjee, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), visited Don Bosco Technical Institute, Park Circus, during her official tour of Kolkata.
She was accompanied by a senior delegation including Sh. S. Sreenivas Naik (Deputy Director General), Sh. Naval Kishore Arora (Regional Director), Sh. T. Ragulan (Director, CSTARI), Sh. Manish Mishra (Deputy Director), Sh. K. V. S. Narayana (Training Officer), and Sh. Bikram Kumar Das (NSDC).
The visit, arranged at short notice, reflected the Secretary’s interest in understanding the initiatives of private ITIs and their contribution to India’s skilling ecosystem.
The team was warmly received by the institute’s management, faculty and the students. They interacted with students from various trades, observed ongoing practical sessions, and reviewed the training infrastructure and pedagogy. The Secretary appreciated the hands-on learning model, industry-linked curriculum, and emphasis on discipline and employability skills that characterize Don Bosco’s approach to technical education.
Addressing the students, Smt. Debasree Mukherjee encouraged them to embrace continuous learning and make the best use of the opportunities provided. She commended their confidence and communication skills, recognizing the institute’s role in shaping well-rounded, job-ready youth.
The delegation expressed high appreciation for the quality of training, the dedication of instructors, and the institute’s sustained efforts to empower underprivileged youth through skill development.
